Sweet Avocado Smoothie

Sweet Avocado Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 and ½ cups apple juice
A small avocado (pitted)
1 large pear (quartered and seeded)
6 dates (pitted and dried)
1 cup ice cubes

Directions:

Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid.
Select Variable 1.
Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10 then to high.
Blend for one minute or until desired consistency is reached.

They also contain more than 20 different vitamins and minerals including vitamin K, C and E. With no cholesterol or sodium, and are low in saturated fat. Get your daily dose of fibre which is a necessity for good bowel movement. Plus stabilise the release of sugar  in the body which helps defend the body from various sugar related diseases.  

Nature’s very own tooth brush, apples stimulate the production of saliva in the mouth reducing the bacteria in the mouth while reducing tooth decay. Apples are also rich in soluble fibre stabilising sugar levels reducing mood swings and lowering cholesterol levels.

Pink Smoothie Recipe

Pink Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 medium banana, frozen
½ large beet, peeled and cut into cubes for easier blending
¼ avocado, peeled and pitted
2 cm fresh root ginger, peeled
1 cup water, depending on desired consistency
1 cup kale or spinach (optional)
Optional sweetener (1 handful dates or 2 tablespoon honey)

Directions:

Place all of the ingredients into your Vitamix in the listed order and select the variable 1.
Slowly increase speed to variable 10 and blend until the smoothie has a soft-serve ‘ice cream’ consistency.
Pour into a glass.
Enjoy!

Orange and Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients:

2 avocados
2 tablespoons cacao powder
8 dates (pitted)
Juice of 2 oranges + zest for topping

Directions:

Place all the ingredients in a Super Blender and blend till smooth and creamy.
Pour into 2 glasses and enjoy straight away.
For a thicker texture refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

In this form you do not get all the health benefits that are found in pure raw cacao. These include a high content of B vitamins and vitamin C. The antioxidant properties reduce fight cancer causing free radicals. Other benefits include improved digestion, lowering blood pressure and increasing blood circulation and improved cardiovascular health.
